City Of Liverpool Sea Cadets is a non profit, unpaid volunteer ran organisation, We are a registered charity as unlike the Army and Air force Cadets are not funded by the MOD, We cater for young people aged 9 to 18 not only Anfield and Everton but across Liverpool.
What are passions and ambitions of the business or organisation?
Integrate with the local community, help others.
Why is it important that your business is in Anfield/Everton?
We bring a youth organisation into the area that gives them a structured disciplined safe area to train. We offer all water activities including sailing rowing kayaking power boating which they need to pass a swimming test that's just water-based the others are IT, BTec, navigation, cookery, field craft, and many many more.
What does this neighbourhood mean to you?
Having lived in Anfield for most of my life I have seen the neighbourhood grow and change, Feel that it's still got room to grow and how I can bring/ give something back.
What advice would you give a new, local person starting up their own business or organisation in Anfield/Everton?
I think that anyone starting up in the area should join AID as a springboard to a wealth of knowledge and help.
What are your aspirations for the area / what would you like the neighbourhood to look like in 5 or 10 years' time?
To have a vibrant affable area where people and businesses thrive and are proud to call it home.
We are based in one of the most deprived areas in Liverpool over 50% of our cadets either come from a disadvantaged family or a mental disability, we believe every child deserves a chance so in some cases we don't charge a subscription.
Something people might not know about me…
I’ve been the Chairman of City Of Liverpool SCC for over 20 years loved every minute of it, I cannot put into words the pride I have in our youngster's, I'm also currently the Merseyside West District Chairman working closely with the Charities Commission, Liverpool City Council.
