Friends of Anfield Cemetary
Tell us what you (or your business) does?
Friends of Anfield Cemetery attract funding for a variety of community projects relating to Liverpool's remarkable History and Heritage over the last 200 years, using Anfield's Grade II* 141 acre cemetery. Our ultimate aim is to build an International Heritage and Visitor Centre, using the sole remaining chapel (of three) at its core.
What are passions and ambitions of the business or organisation?
To include our community in reaching out to Liverpool's tourism industry, attract them to Anfield and help to promote a more dynamic economy.
What does this neighbourhood mean to you?
My wife and her family, I and my family were born in Anfield and Everton. Our families' graves are in Anfield Cemetery. We both went to local junior and senior schools - in short, our roots are in Anfield and Everton, giving us strong commitments to them.
What advice would you give a new, local person starting up their own business or organisation in Anfield/Everton?
Consult with people in the area, groups, other businesses, local councillors and include the AID group, where there is plenty of current advice to be had.
What are your aspirations for the area / what would you like the neighbourhood to look like in 5 or 10 years' time?
Firstly, there must be serious investment in the area. The investment must help to attract visitors and generate income, which in turn will boost opportunities, health and the local economy.
Friends of Anfield Cemetery's aim to build an International Heritage and Visitor Centre (if built) would instantly contribute to that vision.
